The Hard Rock Orchestra represents the highest level of performance within RIO—a select group of advanced musicians seeking a professional-level musical experience.

This ensemble is designed for players who are ready to go beyond rehearsal and take full ownership of their craft. Musicians in this group are expected to demonstrate:

• Advanced technical ability
• Strong musical independence
• A commitment to precision, style, and performance energy

🎯 Expectations:

Members of the Hard Rock Orchestra will:

• Commit to additional practice outside of scheduled RIO rehearsals
• Arrive fully prepared, with music learned and performance-ready
• Be ready to rehearse at a high level and refine details—not learn notes
• Contribute to a focused, disciplined, and performance-driven environment

⚡ This is a stage-ready ensemble. Every rehearsal builds toward a polished, high-impact live performance.

When you submit your interest form, you will choose:

• 1st choice time block
• 2nd choice time block

📩 You’ll receive your exact arrival time by June 8, 2026

• RIO Excerpt (Provided):
  • Perform the 8-measure excerpt sent to you
• Scale of Your Choice:
  • 1 Three-octave scale of your choice.
  • As fast as possible with:
    • Clean tone
    • Accurate pitch
    • Steady rhythm (your choice)

• You’ll be assigned a 30-minute audition block
• Within that block, the order of performers will be randomly selected
• You must:
  • Arrive early
  • Warm up
  • Be ready to go at the beginning of your audition time block

⚡ Be ready before your name (number) is called—no delays.

• You’ll receive a random number upon arrival
  (This keeps the process completely anonymous)

• No talking
• No questions
• No identifying sounds
• Wear quiet shoes only

• 1 restart for scale
• 1 restart for excerpt
• Total time: 2 minutes max

🚫 Automatic Disqualification If:

• You speak at any time
• You take extra restarts
• You make any identifying sounds (voice, comments, etc.)

Your blind audition is scored by RIO Directors using a point system.

• Tone
• Accuracy
• Tempo
• Articulation
• Rhythm
• Style

🎯 All category scores are combined into your final score

• 47 musicians will be selected for the
  RIO Audition-Level Rock Orchestra

🎧 Final Notes:

• All blind auditions will be recorded
• All decisions are final (no negotiation)

• May 23, 2026: Interest form Sent to qualified members
• May 30, 2026: Interest Form Submissions Due
• June 1, 2026: Excerpt released - Via Email  
• June 8, 2026: Audition times assigned
• June 11, 2026: Blind Audition Day
• June 15, 2026: Results & music released- sent via email
